Topic: “Signs of Addiction”. – Lt. Gary Cranmer, Alton Police Department
Gary was an Emergency Medical Services (Paramedic Ambulance) for 8 years and Metro East EMS Supervisor. He has been in law enforcement for the past 25 years, as well as a business owner. During his LE career, he worked in patrol as both a Patrolman, Field Training Officer and School Resource Officer, and team medic for the APD SWAT team. In addition, over 10 years were then spent as Detective and later Detective Sgt. in the Alton Police Department Investigations division. Gary was a member of the St. Louis Metropolitan Major Case Squad and also ran the Narcotics unit as a Supervisor. As a Lt. he is the Support Services Commander and Jail Supervisor overseeing the Jail, Records division, Traffic Division and the Public Information Officer of the APD. Gary has presented drug addiction/alcoholism awareness program in public schools and prison release programs for youth. He holds a B.S. degree in Organizational Leadership from Greenville College.
