“Recognizing the Warning Signs before Workplace Violence Erupts”
Joe Delia, Whelan Security
Joe is currently the Senior Director of Security Consulting Services for Whelan Security. He is building and leading a new division that specializes in security risk management, physical security assessments, corporate investigations, workplace violence training/mitigation and other specialized security needs. He is working out of the corporate headquarters in St. Louis but will be traveling nationally to wherever the need is.
Before retiring in December 2016 Joe was the Deputy Chief of Police with the Maryland Heights Police Department. He is a 27-year veteran with extensive investigative experience in a wide variety of cases including: narcotics, vice, money laundering and homicides. For over ten years, he served as a “Task Force Agent,” assigned to the FBI, DEA and IRS-CID task forces. He also is a past supervisor for the St. Louis Major Case Squad, which is a multi-agency homicide investigation unit.
Joe received national recognition for directing an investigation of a nation-wide child prostitution organization known as the “Evans Family”, which was the largest child prostitution ring prosecuted in U.S. history. In recognition of his efforts, Joe was awarded the national “Top Cop” award, Directors Award for Distinguished Service from the United States Attorney General, and honored by the Missouri Legislature.
Joe is an experienced presenter who has instructed law enforcement classes to officers representing departments, located throughout the United States and Canada. He’s considered an expert in criminal interrogation by the United States Department of Justice. Joe has participated in developing training programs in partnership with various agencies/organizations such as: FBI, DEA, Las Vegas Metro Police Department, Los Angeles Police Department, Dallas Police Department, Washington D.C. Metropolitan Police Department, Kansas Highway Patrol, Chicago Crime Commission, Loyola University, and St. Louis University.
